Saint-Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Russia. Established more than 80 years ago (in 1918), it remains young and active. A lot of absolutely new faculties have been created lately in our University. After graduating from the University our students can work in different spheres of modern life. The only place where our students can't be is a queue to an employment agency.
Our University has received this high status step by step: in the beginning it was the Institute, then the Academy, and now it is the University, where you can get a profession of a guide, a director, a web-designer, a manager of social and cultural technologies and even a psychologist.

Culture of Family and Childhood faculty was organized in 1995. In the result of its constant development it has become one of the leading faculties of our University. Now there are more than 1000 students at our faculty. In Russia only our faculty turns out specialists taught according to the up-to-date educational programmes aimed at solution of different problems of the modern family; deviating behaviour of children and teenagers; organization of family tourism and children's creative work. Also at our faculty a unique department- psychology of the family and childhood- has been created. All our teaching staff are highly qualified, skillful and experienced professionals. Most of them have a Doctor of Science degree.
The head of our faculty is a doctor of pedagogical science, a professor Titov Boris Alexandrovich whose consultations on problems of marriage and family can be often seen in a TV programme "A family psychologist".

At our faculty we have two basic professions:· "Psychology" and "Social-cultural activity" that in its turn has some specialization's - look at the list of the faculty's departments.

The main departments of our faculty:

The educational programme is very extensive and it is aimed at individualization and humanization of education, good knowledge of a foreign language( or several ones), computer skills. We offer our students an opportunity to work on probation abroad. At our faculty there are two educational forms - full-time and correspondence course. Now we are working on a third one- a distant one, so that students from St.-Petersburg, from other towns, Russian-speaking people from abroad could learn without wasting of time and money. We are planning to finish it by the next 2002/2003 academic year.

After graduating from the University our students get a state diploma. The education is chargeable. There are no entrance exams at our faculty, applicants pass only an interview (from 1 of May up to 15 of September). One should have:

a diploma
a medical certificate (form 0-86y)
five photos

At our faculty there is a 5-year period of learning: 10 terms of learning on the basis of a secondary school and 8 terms of learning on the basis of a secondary special education. There is a dormitory for students from other towns. Young people have a right of postponement from the military service.

After graduating from our faculty our students work in regional administrations and charitable funds, in services of psychological correction, in the system of education (state, private, additional), in preschool establishments, in international travel agencies, in cultural centers for children and youth, in inspections dealing with under age children, in medical and rehabilitation centers, research and educational organizations, in social and public establishments.
Apart from working with our students, we offer retraining and qualification increase to the staff of regional administrations who are responsible for solution to some social and cultural problems.

The students and the teachers of our faculty lead active scientific work. Some of their works, articles are published. In order to improve social and demographic situation, to provide people with psychological, social and law support, to organize family leisure time, Culture of Family and Childhood charitable fund has been created.

This site was thought up not only for representing our faculty, but also as a part of a future complex for offering educational services (higher education, additional post-graduate education, the second higher education, different training courses within the bounds of our core activity, but also as a part of a portal, where one would be able to get free of charge consultations on one of these spheres: psychology, pedagogics of family relationship, teenagers and groups of risk, etc.). One would be able to take part in a discussion on one of the questions in a form of a chat. Besides, in free access there will be scientific, methodical literature and other materials.
In e-shop one would be able to order any of offered books or to pay a fee for education. Everything mentioned above is being created, that is why now a number of services and information is limited. All necessary information about our site's sections you can get through (Карта сайта). After it loads, a very convenient panel of navigation will appear. Unfortunately, a very few English-speaking visitors get into our site, that is why all mentioned above sections exist only in Russian. But in future we are planning to translate the most important information into English.
